Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale Celebrates its 20th Year During Modernism Week

Show & Sale Will Offer Important 20th and 21st Century Furniture and Art Objects and Design Expo Will Offer Cutting-edge Modern Design and Technology at the Most Well Attended event of Modernism Week

Palm Springs, CA (January 21, 2020) – The 20th annual Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale and the Palm Springs Modern Design Expo announced new events, partners and dealers that will be at both shows this year. Held in conjunction with Modernism Week, both shows will take place at the Palm Springs Convention Center February 14-17, 2020. Weekend admission (one ticket for both shows) is $20 in advance and $25 at the door and includes return entry all weekend and a comprehensive full-color Modernism Week events catalog. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance at palmspringsmodernism.com. Tickets are also available at the door. The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277 North Avenida Caballeros in Palm Springs.

Both shows open on Friday, February 14 at 6 p.m. with a festive Preview Reception to benefit Modernism Week. At this biggest party of Modernism Week, attendees will enjoy a full open bar and hors d’oeuvres, live music and an exclusive opportunity to be among the first to see and shop the world-class collections before the show opens to the general public. Tickets for the Preview Reception are $110 in advance or $125 at the door.

During the Preview Party, Hennessey + Ingalls, the largest art, architecture and design bookstore in the western United States, will host a book signing with Steven Ehrlich and Takashi Yanai of their book “Ehrlich Yanai Outside-In: New California Modernism.” This will take place at the Hennessey + Ingalls booth in the Show & Sale at 7 p.m.

The California Closets mobile showroom, which debuted at Modernism Week last year, will be located outside the Convention Center during the run of the show. This showroom features a design studio with a full range of product samples and consultants to help attendees identify the ideas and options provided by the company.

This year, an innovative and sleek pod-style prefab luxury shipping container unit from Buhaus Built will be on display outside the Palm Springs Convention Center. Designed by cofounders Nate Garnero and Douglas Burdge, AIA, the prefab is a 160 square foot dwelling unit made up of high-end finishes from Dornbracht to Corian. This multipurpose space is designed to be used as a backyard office, guest house, airbnb, and even as hotel rooms. It will be available for tours throughout the run of the Show & Sale. A free museum exhibition will be available to Modernism Week attendees in the Convention Center lobby. The Museum of California Design returns to the Show & Sale for the seventh year with the exhibition “Kids’ Stuff: California Designs for Children.” The exhibition will feature modernist designs created by Evelyn Ackerman, Harry Bertoia, Don Chadwick, Charles and Ray Eames, Gere Kavanaugh, LaGardo Tackett and others. This exhibition is made possible through the generosity of Jacques Caussin, Judith Hendler, Javad Kheradmandan, Alvin Lee, Daniel Ostroff, and Dolphin Promotions.

The highly regarded Modernism Show & Sale will feature a record 90 premier national and international decorative and fine arts dealers with items representing all design movements of the 20th Century and select 21st century items.
